The 54th NATO Tiger Meet saw the annual military exercise head to Poland for the first time, as the 31st Tactical Air Base near Poznan played host. Home to a majority of the Polish Air Force’s General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon fleet, the bases’ gates were opened up to a group of photographers to capture the action.
Aside from 6th Squadron’s F-16’s, there were also Vipers present from the Dutch, Belgian and Hellenic Air Forces. Eurofighter operators were represented by the Spanish, German and Italians, while the Czech and Hungarian attended with their Saab Gripens. Additionally, there were also Tornados (German Air Force), F-18s (Swiss Air Force), Rafales (French Navy), and Austrian Saab 105s present.
Whilst traditionally tailored to photographic opportunities, the 2018 open day was, for one reason or another, not best suited, making for challenging shooting conditions against the light.
Below is a gallery from a day off the airfield near Krzesiny, and on the base alongside the runway, showing the array of types, and special schemes on display.
