One of the most difficult times of day take photographs is at sunset. But it can also be the most rewarding if you get it right.
The 24th RAF Northolt Nightshoot was only partially a true nightshoot, which from a photographic perspective made it a more exciting prospect.
Whilst challenging, the constantly changing lighting conditions also offered for greater variety of pictures to be produced in a relatively short time period, so with an an array of aircraft in a diverse mix of colour schemes present, finding the best balance took experimentation.
Aircraft present included: two de Havilland Chipmunks, a Percival Pembroke, and a Scottish Aviation Bulldog, while international military support came from the Polish Air Force (Casa 295), and the French armed forces, providing a Xingu and Pilatus PC-6.
Royal Air Force support came in the form of a specially schemed Tucano, and Northolt-based 32 Squadron provided a pair of BAe 146s, and an Agusta AW109.
Below is a small gallery from the evening, where ever-changing light provided a challenge, but rewarding photographic conditions.
