Touring car racing is known for its unrelenting action, but one of the most spectacular tin-top series must be the German-based DTM championship.
After returning to Brands Hatch following a five-year hiatus in 2018, the 2019 has seen the arrival of its new turbocharged ‘Class One’ regulations, making the series one of the fastest in terms of outright lap time to visit the Kent circuit.
Alongside the 18-car DTM field, comprised of entries from BMW, Audi and Aston Martin, support races included action from the season-finale of the female-only W Series, as well as the Lotus Cup Europe, the Mini Seven and Miglia Championships, and David Coulthard driving Sebastian Vettel’s 2011 Formula One-winning Red Bull RB7, providing plenty of variety.
While shooting at a circuit for the first time is always a challenge, the unique Brands Hatch circuit offers many opportunities for a photographer, with plenty of colour and gradient to be made use of, which is hopefully shown in the pictures below.
